Get to know Alder Landscape Architecture

La Paz pebbles are one of the best materials to make exposed aggregate attractive.. This design is in a Japanese tradition with concrete pads separated by 4" voids with larger pebbles in between. The wall has a veneer of San Francisco cobble which lined the streets of old San Francisco historically and was provided by clipper ships requiring ballast as they made the difficult trip around Cape Horn, South America. A lead mask of a Lion Head is present to provide "white noise" into the fountain. A bench is present for guests that linger as they are returning homeand wish to enjoy the lovely setting.

The backyard pool and spa are located next to the Master Bedroom. The closer a landscape feature is next to the house, the more likely it will be used. Water falls into the pool at a greater depth since the elevation of the patio leading from the Master Bedroom is higher than the backyard finish grade. Slate tile is used close to the spa and residence but returns to exposed aggregate around the perimeter of the pool.
